Mango, Mangos, and more Mangos! I just finished peeling, slicing, freezing and did I mention SLURPING Mango juice from around the pitt? Not BRAD...just the many mangos. This is the time of season for that delicious fruit. My friend, Lisa, has been bringing me the fruit that drops off of the tree next door to her house. After all, they are dropping into her yard and will make a huge mess if left to rot. Lisa told me that the squirrels also toss the mangos out of the tree. She reminds them not to hit her with the mangos as she's picking them up for me. Then she picks through the ones that the squirrels have nibbled prior to tossing, and the ones that the bugs have burrowed into, and brings me the best of the days fruit.
Here is a little tidbit about Mangos: THEY ARE SLIPPERY and sticky. Their sugar content must be quite high. But they are yummy and if you like them, as I do, the work to cut them up is insignificant.
Tonight I froze three large bags full and I also managed to save a container for lunch tomorrow. Lee wonders what in the world I plan to do with all of this fruit. I said, besides eat it, I plan to make some mango muffins or mango bread or mango jelly. I hope Lisa keeps fighting the squirrels for me. Now that's friendship!
And since I've Mangoed the night away, it's time for this lil mango freak to go to sleep. Good night.
